Casper (mayan ruler)
Glyph with the name of the ruler in the Temple of the Cross in Palenque
Casper also known as 11 Królik or Ch'aaj K'ik '(born August 8, 422, probable about 487) - Mayor of the city of Palenque and successor of K'uk' Bahlama I. He reigned in 435 -487.
He joined the throne on August 9, 435 at the age of 13, and reigned for 52 years. Only the Pakal Wielki wielded authority from him. Despite such long governments, little is known about him. Also, the glyph with his name has not been fully understood, so it is conventionally referred to as Casper. The archaeologist Floyd Lounsbury gave him such a nickname because the glyph image with his name resembles the character of Kacper from the animated film. Another researcher named David Kelley named him 11 Rabbit from the date of the birth of the ruler, who in the tzolkin calendar was 11 Lamat (the symbol of the day Lamat is a rabbit). In turn, the epigraphist Guillermo Bernal Romero examining the inscriptions from the XVI Temple suggested that the real name of the ruler is Ch'aaj K'ik. So far, the first part of the glyph has been read, which is ch'a.
The texts mention that the young ruler led the ceremony to celebrate the end of the eighth baktun and the ninth commencement. One baktun lasted 144,000 days, or about 395 years. The ceremony took place in Toktahn - Casper, like K'uk 'Bahlama, and was entitled' King of Toktahn '. The ruler also presided twice (in 445 and 460) at the inauguration ceremony of several dignitaries.
Although the date of his death was not preserved, he probably lived until 487, when B'utz Aj Sak Chiik took over the power.
