Nicholas Kemeys (born around 1593, died in 1648) - Welsh official and commander. In 1641 he was ennobled by the king. A year later he became a baronet. He was the royal administrator of south-east Wales. According to the messages, he was very tall and well-built. In 1644 Charles Gerard removed Kemeys from the role of Governor Cardiff for questioning his fiscal decisions. Kemeys was even trapped for a short time. After the outbreak of civil war he became the commander of the Chepstow castle crew. He defended the fortress, although the nearby town was captured by Oliver Cromwell. He died when Isaac Ewer's troops stormed the fortress.

Poet Dafydd Morgan wrote about him an epic entitled An Epic Poem on Sir Nicholas Kemeys, the Captor and Defender of Chepstow Castle.
