Interlinking

Intermediate plexus - a central periodontal zone located between a group of fibers cemented in the root of the tooth and a group of fibers attached to the alveolar bone. These three groups of fibers are intertwined by means of small, thick tufts of collagen (non-stretch) and oxytal (elastic) fibers. The presence of the weave and the wavy and variegated course of the periodontal fibers allow the teeth to erupt and to move the tooth - both physically during chewing and for example in orthodontic treatment.
