The front elevation of the building, situated on the street side and having an entrance (not necessarily the main one), often the most representative (but not necessarily), is sometimes called a facade. This name is most often used for urban buildings, built in frontage, in which the remaining external walls are in contact with neighboring buildings or are covered.
The name of the façade is also defined in the architectural and construction drawing presented in the scale of the building view perpendicular to one of the walls. In the architectural design, the drawing of the facade determines the size and location of openings (doors, windows, etc.) and other details of the facade, the height of the building and its levels, the type of finishing materials used.
