Akil Gjakova

Akil Gjakova (born January 4, 1996 in Pec) is a Kosovo judoka fighting in weight categories up to 66 and up to 73 kilograms. European Champion to the 18th of 2013.

He started judo at age 6. In the official international competition in this sport he made his debut in 2012. A year later he won the European championship of cadets (up to 18 years) in the weight category up to 66 kg, and also finished 5th in the European Championship under 23 in the same weight category. Since then he has been playing in the senior rivalry. In June 2015 he participated in the European Games 2015, where in competition in the weight category to 73 kg fell in the first round, losing to Nikola Gušic by ippon. In September of the same year he was 5th in the European Championship under the same weight category.

His sister, Nora Gjakova, also practices judo.
