Agnes Jongerius


Agnes Maria Jongerius (born November 4, 1960 in De Meern) is a Dutch trade union activist and politician. She is the chairman of the largest federated Nederlandse Vakbeweging (FNV), Member of the European Parliament for the eighth term of office in 2005-2012. > Curriculum vitae

In 1988, she completed her masters degree in socio-economic history at the University of Utrecht. Since 1987 she has been a full time trade unionist. Until 1990 she was a member of the regional board of the FNV transport section in Rotterdam. Then until 1997 she was a member of the board of the national section. In 1997, she joined the board of the Dutch Federation of Trade Unions (FNV), then served as coordinator (2002-2004) and vice-president (2004-2005). From 2005 to 2012 she was the chairman of the federation. After leaving this position she became a researcher at Utrecht University. She has also engaged in political activities within the Labor Party. In 2014, for this grouping, she was given the mandate of the European Parliament for the eighth term of office. Bibliography
