Battle of Korzkivia

Battle of Korzkivia - fought near Korzkw in October 1587 between the armies of Maksymilian Habsburg and Jan Zamoyski as part of the siege of Cracow after the double election of Zygmunt III Vasa. German troops under the command of Maximilian Habsburg, the pretender to the throne of the Polish kingdom and the loyal Polish forces to Sigismund III Vasa led by Jan Zamoyski participated in the clash. As a result of the battle, German infantry suffered heavy losses and had to retreat to Silesia. The battle was supposedly so fierce that the blood flowing to the Prądnik River could be seen even at the height of the Prądnik Czerwony (hence one of the originations of the name of the last settlement).
