Grigory Petrov
Grigorij Konstantinovich Petrov (Russian: Григорий Константинович Петров, born 1892 in Ryazan, died September 20, 1918) was one of the leaders of the Baku-Komi Communist Revolution.
He studied at the Riahanian Real School, an activist of the left-wing SS, in 1917 he organized a volunteer militia in Ryazan, commanded the Red Guards, and took part in the battle against Kaledin. Later he was commander of the 1st South Army and the Caucasian Front. In mid 1918 he joined the Red Guards in Baku with the task of defending communist rule against the anti-Bolshevik forces, participating in the fight against the Caucasian Army of Islam. Later he was arrested and killed along with other commissars of the Bakuji Commune.
In 1981, his monument was unveiled in Ryazan. Bibliography
