Social Democratic Union
The Social Democratic Union (SSA) is a Serbian political party with a social democratic profile.
SDU founded Žarko Korána, who in 1996 left the Civic Alliance of Serbia. The party began to preach pro-Western orientation and opposition to nationalism, advocating respect for human rights for all ethnic groups. In 2000 the Union co-created a broad coalition under the name Democratic Opposition of Serbia, obtaining four seats in the National Assembly. In the newly appointed government her leader took over the duties of deputy prime minister. In 2002, the SDU merged with the Social Democrats, forming a new group, the Social Democratic Party. In 2003, due to internal disputes, Žarko Korána decided to reactivate the Social Democratic Union. In 2003, as the sole representative of the SDU, he received a parliamentary mandate from the list of the Democratic Party's electoral coalition. In 2007, 2008 and 2012 the Union co-created the election alliances with the Liberal-Democratic Party, each with one seat in the National Assembly for its president. In 2014, she lost her parliamentary representation, and Žarko Korána soon left the formation. Bibliography
