Selwyn Edge
Selwyn Edge (born March 29, 1868 in Concord, Eastbourne, February 12, 1940) is a British racing driver and entrepreneur. Career Edge began his racing career with the Paris-Bordeaux race in 1899, where De Dion-Bouton did not reach the finish line. Later he joined the British team Napier, where he worked both as a driver and as a dealer. The 17-liter car of this team celebrated the victory in the Gordon Bennett Cup in 1902. It was the first win of a British racing car. Since 1904, Edge has worked as the director of the Napier racing team. In 1907, Brooklands set a record in the 24-hour race. He traveled 2546 km at an average speed of 106 km / h. This record was improved by the British, who traveled 2868 km in 1922.
