Narewski reservoir

Narewski Reservoir (Narva veehoidla, Rwanda) is a retention reservoir on the Narva River on the border between Estonia and Russia. Built in the years 1955-56, at a time when Estonia belonged to the USSR. After independence Estonia was divided between the two countries. At present there are about 20% of the area in Estonia.

The entire reservoir has about 191 km² of surface area. Due to its small depth (1.8 m), water exchange takes place approximately 30 times per year. The water from the reservoir is supplied to the Narewska Hydropower Plant, located on the Russian side (125MW, managed by TGC-1) and provides cooling to the Narva Elektrijaamad power plant, which supplies 95% of energy to Estonia.

The ecological status of the tank water is considered good. Bibliography
