Arsienij Jakowlew


Arsiej Mikhailovich Yakovlev (born 1915 in the village of Pietruszyno in the district of Twersko in the Tver Governorate), an officer of the Soviet security forces, one of the perpetrators of the Katyn massacre.

He had an undergraduate degree, from 1936 he served in the Red Army, in 1940 he was the supervisor of the NKVD Board of the Kaliningrad Oblast. In the spring of 1940 he participated in the murder of Polish prisoners from the camp in Ostaszków, and on October 26, 1940, the People's Commissar of Internal Affairs, Lavrov Beria, awarded him a monetary prize.
