Angelo Farrugia


Angelo (Anġlu) Farrugia (born 29 December 1955 in Mosta) is a Maltese politician, lawyer and police officer. From 2013 the chairman of the Maltese Parliament. Curriculum vitae

He completed his law studies at the University of Malta. In 1977-1996 he was an officer of the Maltese Police, coming to the position of superintendent. In the mid-1990s he became involved in political activities within the Left Labor Party. In 1996, for the first time, her arm was elected to the House of Representatives, re-elected in 1998, 2003 and 2008. From 1998 to 2008, the Minister of Justice was in the Shadow Cabinet.

In 2008 he was elected to the Labor Party Vice-Chair. He resigned in 2012 in connection with the criticism caused by his public insinuations regarding the political motivation of the judge. He also failed to take part in the parliamentary elections in 2013. On 6 April he was appointed as the spokesperson for a new parliamentary term in Malta. In 2017 he was re-elected to the House of Representatives.
