Wojciech Ostachowski
Wojciech Ostachowski (born April 14, 1923 in Sułoszowa, October 15, 2013) is a Polish activist of the popular movement, during the Second World War a soldier of the Peasant Battalions and the Home Army, Major General.
He came from a peasant family and was the son of Joseph and Apolonia. Before the war in his native village he worked in the village youth union "Wici". Probably from 1942 he fought in the ranks of the Peasant Battalions (pseudonym Mroczek), serving as a liaison and intelligence officer under the command of Jan Tederka, Kazimierz Pasternak and Jan Pieńkowski respectively. He participated in the protection of the radio station of the Home Army in the Virgins, as well as armed and diversionary activities in the vicinity of Wolbrom.
After the war he obtained his secondary education in agriculture (schools in Olkusz and Cieszyn), then graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry of the Jagiellonian University. He returned to activities in the youth movement (during his studies he was part of the Cracow municipal council "Wici"), was a member of PSL, then ZSL. For a longer time he worked in the Presidium of the Provincial National Council and the Provincial Union of State Farms in Kielce (among others, he performed the duties of an expert on valuation of agricultural real estate at the Provincial Office). He also served as chairman of the Kielce branch of the Association of Agricultural Engineers and Technicians. He was part of the plenary of the ZSL Provincial Committee in Kielce. He died on October 15, 2013 and was buried in the Cedzyna cemetery. Selected badges Bibliography
