Capital Requirements Directive IV (CRD IV) - Directive 2013/36 / EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 June 2013 on the conditions for the admission of credit institutions to business and prudential supervision of credit institutions and investment firms. >

The CRD IV Directive deals with issues such as: with: banks, capital buffers, supervision, management and corporate governance of banks and investment firms.

The Directive is part of the so- CRD IV / CRR, which also includes Regulation (EC) No 575/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 June 2013 on prudential requirements for credit institutions and investment firms (CRRs).

On January 1, 2014, the CRD IV / CRR replaced the European Union's existing regulations in this area: Directive 2006/48 / EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 June 2006 on the taking up and pursuit of the the activities of credit institutions and Directive 2006/49 / EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 June 2006 on the capital adequacy of investment firms and credit institutions.

The aim of the new regulation is to strengthen the banking sector and investment firms to create a safer and more transparent financial system for the Member States.
