Ottmar Gerster
Ottmar Gerster (born June 29, 1897 in Braunfels, died on August 31, 1969 in Leipzig) - German composer and music teacher. Curriculum vitae
He studied at the conservatory in Frankfurt am Main, he was a student of Bernhard Sekles (composition) and Adolf Rebner (violin). In the years 1927-1947 he lectured at the Folkwangschule in Essen, 1947-1952 at the Higher School of Music in Weimar, and in 1952-1962 in Leipzig. At the same time, in 1951-1960 he was the chairman of the Union of Composers and Musicologists of the GDR. He composed symphonies (I-III 1931-1965), cello concerto (1946), piano (1956) and horn (1962), operas: Madame Liselotte (Essen 1933), Die Hexe von Passau (Düsseldorf 1941), Der fröliche Sünder (Weimar) 1963) and ballet Der Ewige Kreis (Duisburg 1939).
