Leonard Spychalski
Leonard Spychalski (born 5 September 1926 in Harbin, Manchuria, May 15, 2015) - Polish athlete, high jump specialist.
He was born in a Polish family in Manchuria, in a concentration camp in Harbin where he started his sports career (he was a Harbin master in high jump). After World War II in 1949 he was repatriated to Poland. He studied at the Medical Academy in Szczecin (now Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin), continuing his athletic career as a player of clubs AZS Szczecin and then Budowlanych Szczecin. His achievements include the bronze medal of the 27th Polish Championships in Athletics, in the high jump of 1951. After completing his professional career he worked as a physician and was also socially active as president of the Harbin Club of Szczecin. After retiring, he returned to sports activities in a veteran competition. He was a multiple medalist of the Polish Veterans Championship and also won two silver and one bronze medals at the European Masters Championships.
