John Thornborough (born 1551, died 1641) - English Anglican bishop. Curriculum vitae

John Thornborough was born in Salisbury. His father was Giles Thornborough. He graduated from Magdalen College in Oxford. First, on April 1, 1573, he obtained a baccalaureate, and on June 27, 1575, he received his master's degree. He was the chaplain of Count Henry Herbert, Count Pembroke, and then Queen Elizabeth the Great. Then he was the dean of York and the bishop of Limerick (1593), Bristol (1603) and Worcester (1617). In this last diocese he was the successor of Henry Parry. He was distinguished by tolerance towards the puritans who reluctantly referred to the episcopal church. He died in 1641 and was buried in the cathedral in Worcester. He was married twice. From his first marriage he had two sons, Benjamin and Edward. From his second marriage to Elizabeth Bayles in Suffolk, he had Thomas' son. Artworks

John Thornborough was the author of an alchemical work entitled Lithotheorikos, published in 1621. In addition, he wrote historical and theological treatises, including a dissertation on the Eucharist, The Last Will and Testament of Jesus Christ, touching the Blessed Sacrament of his Body and Blood (1630).
