Zbigniew Bochniarz


Zbigniew Bochniarz (born 2 July 1945) is a Polish economist.

He graduated from the Warsaw School of Planning and Statistics, where he also received his doctorate. In the years 1968-1985 he lectured on a planned economy at the same university. From January 1986 he worked as visiting professor at the University of Minnesota and co-founded the Center for Nations in Transition at the Humphrey Institute, an international center specializing in the design and implementation of foreign aid for Central and Eastern Europe.

He was a consultant to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for Eastern Europe. He is a member of the Program Council of the Foundation for Environmental Economists and Natural Resources in Białystok. He is a founding member of the Partnership for the Environment in Cracow.

With Andrzej Kassenberg for the funds provided by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. founded the Institute for Sustainable Development

In 2000, he received the Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland from the hands of Aleksander Kwaśniewski.
