He worked as a pharmacist in Narva, 1918-1923 at the Extraordinary Committee in Petrograd, from 1919 he belonged to RKP (b), in 1929 he graduated from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute. In the years 1933-1940 he managed the laboratory of the Leningrad State Institute of Science and Research of Ceramics, in 1937 he became a candidate of chemo-technical sciences, in 1940-1941 he worked at the Institute of Science and Research of the People's Commissariat for Light Industry of the Estonian SSR and was deputy chairman of the Committee for Nationalization in Tallinn, and 1942-1944 chief engineer of the Altaic National Board of the Construction Materials Industry. In the years 1944-1948 he was the director of the Institute of Science and Research of the People's Commissariat / Ministry of Slate and Chemical Industry of the Estonian SSR, 1948-1951 the rector of the Tallinn Polytechnic Institute, 1950-1952 chairman of the Estonian Republican Society for the Extension of Political and Scientific Knowledge, and 1951-1954 deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Estonian SSR. From September 19, 1952 to January 17, 1956, he was a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of the Estonian / Communist Party of Estonia, including from September 19, 1952 to February 13, 1954 a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Poland (b) E / KPE, and from 1954 to the death of the academician- secretary of the Faculty of Technical, Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the SRR of Estonia.
