People's Action

Acción Popular (Spanish Acción Popular) until 1932 National Action (Spanish Acción Nacional) - Spanish right wing monarchist party founded in 1931 by Ángel Herrera Oria. In 1933 she joined the Spanish Confederation of the Autonomous Right. History

National Action was founded on April 29, 1931 by Ángel Herrera Oria after the fall of the Spanish monarchy and the defeat of the monarchist parties in the parliamentary elections of 1931 to defend Catholics in the republic. The main editor was the editor of the newspaper El Debate and later Cardinal Ángel Herrera Oria. On October 19, 1931, he resigned from the role of party chairman. It was replaced by José María Gil-Robles. In 1932 the name was changed to People's Action because the government of Manuel Añña prohibited the use of the word "nacional" in the names of the parties. In 1933 she joined the Spanish Confederation of the Autonomous Right.
