Giovanni Battista Guadagnini
Giovanni Battista Guadagnini (born June 23, 1711, September 18, 1786) is an Italian painter, regarded as one of the greatest string artisans in history. Curriculum vitae
Guadagnini was born in Bilegno in Val Tidone near Piacenza, now in Emilia-Romagna, Italy. GB Guadagnini practiced his workshop from about 1729 until his death, and his work is divided into four main periods; Piacenza, Milan, Parma and Turin (names of periods are from the cities where he lived and worked). The last period (Turin) is considered to be the time of his most famous works.
Guadagnini's father, Lorenzo, his son, Giuseppe, and other members of the Guadagnini family continued to work on the creation of the violin for several generations. Interesting facts
Gaudagnini's violin was often called the Stradivarius of the poor, thus referring to the work of Antoni Stradivari, widely regarded as the greatest luther of all time. Bibliography
