Frantisek Benda (1756)
František Benda (German: Franz Benda, born before November 22, 1709 (baptism date) in Benátki nad Jizerou, died on March 7, 1786 in Neudorf near Potsdam) - Czech composer and violinist.
He was the son of Jan and Dorota Brixi and brother of Jiří Antonín Benda. He studied music under the direction of Johann Gottlieb Graun, he was a musician at the court of Prince Frederick II, 1730-1733 he stayed in Poland. In 1740, after Frederick II took over the Prussian throne, he moved to Berlin, where in 1742 the rest of his family joined him. In 1771 he became the concertmaster of the royal orchestra. In his work, he included elements of Czech folk music. He composed 17 concertos for violin, 17 symphonies and many violin pieces (sonatas, duets and solo capriccia). His son Friedrich William Heinrich Benda (1745-1814) also became a famous violinist and composer. Bibliography
