Christian Tapiau (born in Lidzbark, died 6 May 1498 in Frombork) - Warmian canon, Dean of the Chapter of Bystrzyca, associate of the Bishop of Warmia Tungen and Watzenrode.

He had ordained priests, from 1449 he was a chaplain in Olsztyn, and from 1455 (till the end of his life), the priest of Melzack (money). In October 1460 he joined the Chapter of Warmia, occupying the place of Konrad Tostier. In 1466 he became custodian of the Chapter. In the conflict of Bishop Tungen with King Casimir Jagiellonian, he stood on the side of the bishop, who in turn supported Tapiau in the dispute with Werner Medderich for the Prelature of the Dean of the Chapter of Warmia; Tapiau's papal commission for this dignity was given in 1471, but the title was used only in 1475, and the office took place on February 18, 1479. Earlier, he was accompanied by Tungen in exile in Livonia.

Three times he was entrusted with the duties of the administrator of the chapter of the estate with a residence in Olsztyn (1474, 1476, 1478-1481). He was the Bishop of Tungen for the Royal Prussian and Teutonic Knights in Elblag in 1482 and for the negotiations with the Teutonic Order in Bartoszyce in December 1485. He repeatedly represented Tungen's successor, Luke Watzenrode, in negotiations with representatives of the great master of the Teutonic Order, when Bishop Watzenrode was in conflict with the Order. .

In 1476 Tapiau founded a fraternity of the poor in Olsztyn. A year before his death he represented Nicolas Copernicus (in co-operation with the canonist Andreas Kletz), who spent his time studying at the canon of Frombork. He was buried in the cathedral of Borispol. Bibliography
