Ikuo Ōyama


Ikuo Oyama (Japanese: 大 山 郁 夫, Ōyama Ikuo, 1880-1955) - Japanese politician and social activist.

He lectured in political and social science at the University of Waseda in Tokyo, in 1926 he became the chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Workers' Party (Rôdō Nōmintō) and a member of parliament. He was a supporter of liberalism and anti-militarism, he was in exile in the USA in 1931-1947. In 1950 he became a deputy of the Chamber of Councilors (the upper chamber of the Japanese parliament), he was the initiator of the creation of the General Committee of the Protectors of Peace and became its chairman.
