Harry Sears


Harry Edward Sears (born May 11, 1870 in Boston, MD, 19 October 1920 in Beverly) is an American sports scorer, Olympic medalist.

Harry Sears attended the Boston Latin School, and later was a Harvard University graduate who graduated in 1893. Three years later he graduated from Harvard Medical School and started his medical practice in North Shore, Massachusetts. He was a participant in the American-Spanish War, earning a degree of leutnant. He worked for Beverly Hospital for 20 years. In 1920 he underwent a nervous breakdown and was hospitalized for several months. After leaving the hospital, on October 19, on the day of his wife's operation, he committed suicide by being shot in the chest.

He took part in three shootings during the V Summer Olympics in 1912 in Stockholm. He won the gold medal in the team's shooting competition with a pistol from a distance of 30 meters. Bibliography
