Andrea Negroni


Andrea Negroni (born 2 November 1710 in Rome, died 17 January 1789) is an Italian cardinal. Curriculum vitae

He was the eldest of two children Count Antonio Negroni and his wife. In his youth he studied in Rome, and then began work in the papal prelature and the Court of Justice (1743-1761). From 1734 he was a member of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatures, as well as an apostolic proton. March 22, 1760 was ordained subdiakonatu. On July 18, 1763, he was created a cardinal deacon and he received the titular church of S. Maria in Aquiro. In May 1765 he became a protector of the Cistercian Order, Basilians and Bernardine. In the years 1767-1775 he was the secretary of the Apostolic Chancellery, and from 1770 to 1787 the proprefect of the Court of Justice. After the election of Pius VI, Negroni was ordained on March 3, 1775 by His Holiness the Pope, and held office until his death.
