The bell "Jan"


The bell "Jan" from 1389, on the tower of the church of St. John. Jakub in Sandomierz Jan - one of the oldest medieval bells in Poland and one of the oldest bouncing bells in Central Europe. It is located in the church. Dominicans in Sandomierz. It was cast by an anonymous populist. It was suspended in 1389.

It is decorated with two Latin inscriptions: Under the crown of the bell: In the name of Father, Son and Holy Ghost. AMEN. FORMER MEMBERS OF iohānis Sandomiriens ANNOUNCEMENT 1000 300 50 30 9 Polish translation: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Brother Jan, sandomierz preacher. Year of the Lord 1389 Half the height of the bell: Oh REX GLORIAE I came as friends. SINS OF THE LAMB OF GOD WHO HAVE TO TOLLIS Polish translation: Come to the King of Glory with peace.
