Rune Stone from Horne

Rune Stone from Horne

Horne runic stone (DR 34) - a rune stone from the 10th century, located in Horne in the Danish municipality of Varde.

The granite boulder is 70 cm high, 60 cm wide and 52 cm thick. The runes on its surface are 11 to 17 cm high. Originally it was built in the fence of the local cemetery. In 1872 he was taken to the garden of Nørholms, and in 1953 he returned to the church of the Horne Cemetery.

As a result of missing the bottom of the stone, the inscription is partially damaged and difficult to reconstruct. Probably the monument was dedicated to Queen Thyra. The inscription reads from the right, says: ... fnukatufi kaþi hack th --...

What is reconstructed as [Ra] fnunga-Tōfi drove his horse [th] / Th [ōrvēaR (?)] "Tufi, Rafine's relative, raised this boulder for Thyry."
