Passacaglia


Passacaglia is a Spanish song with a guitar accompaniment performed on the street, in the seventeenth century.

Passacaglia, a varicella developed in the seventeenth century, is based on ostinatal variations (permanent patterns in the bass) and is associated with chaconne and tricyclic form. It was used as a standalone piece or as a composition of cantatas, suites, symphonies.
