Lefteris Christoforu


Lefteris Christofor, gr. Λευτέρης Χριστοφόρου (born August 31, 1963 in Prastio) is a Cypriot politician and economist, longtime deputy, Member of the European Parliament V and VIII term. Curriculum vitae

He graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with a degree in economics. Involved in the movement of high school students MAKI and youth organization NEDISY. He worked in the banking sector, was a representative of Famagusta district in connection with Cypriot banking employees (ETYK). Involved in the activities of the Democratic Assembly, he came to the position of vice-president of this party. In 1996 he was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time, re-elected in 2001, 2006 and 2011. He was an observer, and after the accession of Cyprus to the EU from May to July 2004 he held the mandate of a MEP. He returned to the EP in November 2014 in place of Christos Stilianidis.
