Elijah of Saint Yrieix
Élie de Saint-Yrieix (May 10, 1367) - French Benedictine, Bishop and Cardinal.
He came from Saint-Yrieix in the diocese of Limoges. He received his doctoral degree and entered the Benedictine Order. In June 1335 he was elected abbot of Saint-Florent monastery in Saumer, Angers diocese, which he headed for nine years. On 5 September 1344 he was elected bishop of Uzès. He participated in the Bishop's Synod in Béziers in 1351. December 23, 1356 Pope Innocent VI appointed him Cardinal priest Stefano al Montecelio, dismissing him as the bishop of Uzes. He participated in the conclave of 1362. In 1363 he was promoted to the rank of cardinal Bishop Ostia e Velletri. He died in Avignon and was buried in a local Franciscan monastery. Bibliography
