Edward Serednicki
Edward Serednicki ps. Pol (born April 15, 1922 in Warsaw, died November 17, 2016 there) - Polish and international canoeist activist, Warsaw insurrectionist.
Curriculum vitaeDuring the Warsaw Uprising, he fought in the ranks of the Military Security Service of the Uprising as a member of the "Bełt" battalion (Śródmieście District of the Home Army) in the Śródmieście area. After the fighting, he was taken prisoner by the Germans and imprisoned in camps in Łambinowice (Lamsdorf) and Munich. After his release, he joined the Cadet Officer School of the 2nd Corps of the Polish Armed Forces in the West, which he graduated in the rank of Captain. In 1947 he returned to the country. He connected his professional life with canoeing. In the years 1954-1957, during the suspension of the Polish Kayaking Association, he was the secretary of the canoe section of the Main Committee of Physical Culture. After the Union's reactivation, in the years 1957-1988 he was its Secretary General, in 1989-1992 - the President. In addition, he served as a member of the office of the International Kayaking Federation (ICF) in the years 1970-1984, where he presided over the Slalom and Congress Committee and a member of the Board of the Polish Olympic Committee in 1980-1992.
Buried in the Wawrzyszewski Cemetery, plot 8A No. 24. Honors
For his contribution to the development of sport and tourism, he was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta in 1998. He was also awarded the title of ICF Honorary Member, and in 2009 he was honored with the Diploma of the International Olympic Committee. Bibliography
