He was active in the World Peace Council, 1952-1963 he was secretary general of the All India Peace Council, secretary general of the World Peace Council in 1966-1977, then president of the Council of 1977-1990. As the leader of the World Peace Council, he repeatedly spoke in the UN General Assembly.
