Richard Fariña


Richard Fariña (born March 8, 1937, died on April 30, 1966) is an American folk singer and writer.

His only novel, released two days before his death in a motorcycle accident, was a great influence on the work of his friend Thomas Pynchon, who dedicated his Rainbow of Gravity to him. Pynchon was his best man at the wedding with Mimi Baez, younger sister Joan Baez. After the tragic death of Fariña, Joan Baez dedicated to him the song Sweet Sir Galahad. Been Down So Long It Looks Like a to Me is a rogue novel that takes place in the Wild West, Cuba during the Revolution and at Cornell University. In the 1960s, it gained a cult status.
