Nitrogen oil

Nitrogen oil - oil made from American mink fat.

The fat from which the oil is made comes from the fat layer underneath the skin of the mink and is derived from skins intended for fur.

Nitrogen oil is a source of oleopalmitinic acid, which has properties similar to human tallow. Because of this, nourishing oil is used in medical and cosmetic products. Mink oil is also used to preserve various types of leather.

Important features include UVA and UVB ultraviolet radiation, no allergy, and no rancidity. Cosmetics and perfumes are also based on mink oil.

Vegetable substitutes for oleum oil as a source of oleopalmitinic acid are Macadamia nut oil and sea buckthorn oil. Both have a higher percentage of oleopalmitinic acid (22% and 40%, respectively) than for cork oil (17%). Bibliography
