Channel of Nysa-Oława
The Nysa-Oława metamorphic channel, called on the individual sections of the Pępickie Canal or the Psarskie Channel, is a hydrotechnical structure designed to transfer water mass from the Nysa Kłodzka trough to the Oława river bed.
The Oława River is the main source of drinking water for Wroclaw, but the water resources were insufficient, hence the idea to feed Oława with Nysa Kłodzka waters (relatively cleaner than the Oder waters). The channel was created around 1971.
The channel starts at a junction near Michałów, near the A4 motorway bridge. The first 2 km flows through an artificial channel to Michalow. There (along the road no. 458) there is a pump station that pours water under an underground pipeline to a nearby hill - called Michałowski Lake. From here, the open canal runs north-west, in the valley of the former Pępicki Potok. This stream has been erected on many sections, the edges are reinforced with concrete.
Around Obórki there is a first shot. Here the water is collected for the city of Brzeg. At this station water from the canal, after preliminary mechanical cleaning, additionally mixed with the waters of a few nearby deep wells, is further conducted underground pipes to the water treatment plant and wells in Krzyżowice. From here to Brzeg.
The main mass of water flows down the old Pępicki Stream. In the vicinity of national road no. 39, the channel connects with Przyleski Potok and from that place it already has a new name: Psarski Channel from the name of Psarskie Potok, which is used by the valley (although de facto it is the same waterway).
Behind the Psary, and before the Godzikowice there is another shot of water. Here, the Psirnik River turns north-east and leads towards the village of Ścinawa, where it flows directly to the Odra River. However, the water of the metastatic channel is carried further by an artificial channel in the north-west direction towards Jaczkowice.
The Jaczkowic canal connects with Oława. The amount of water in the canal is similar to the amount of water in Oława.
