The collection is accompanied by a dedication for the painter Edward Burne-Jones: To / my Friend / Edward Burne Jones / these poems / are affectionately and admiringly / dedicated. The volume includes the title poem Laus Veneris and several dozen other works, including the poems Anaktoria, Hermaphroditus and Dolores. The content coincides with the volume Poems and Ballads.
