Marcin Babko
Marcin Babko (born January 5, 1975 in Sosnowiec, died on November 27, 2016) - Polish music journalist, publicist, vocalist and animator of culture.
He graduated from bohemistics at the University of Silesia in Katowice. He worked as a music journalist, publishing in "Gazeta Wyborcza", "Jazz Forum", "Prime" and on internet portals. He was the author of biographical books about Ireneusz Dudek (Ziuta Blues, 2008) and the Coldplay band (Open Eyes, 2006), he also translated Czech and Slovak literature (including texts by Jáchym Topol, Michał Hvorecka or Petr Šulej). He performed as a singer and noise generator in Muariolanza, hipiersoniK, Babie Lato and Frank Babko and Kamienie. He also played on the harmonica on the album "Pogodno gra Fochmanna - Hajle Silesia" by Pogodno. From 2003, he was a member of the Artistic Council of the Rawa Blues Festival in Katowice. As an animator of culture, he was associated with Sosnowiec, where in the years 2011-2013 he was the artistic director of festivals: World Fusion Music Festival, Sealesia Festival and Falami May Day. He also collaborated with the Chorzów Cultural Center, where since 2009 he co-organized and was the artistic director of the festival Other Granie, promoting young Polish bands playing alternative music. He was also the organizer of the Art Fair Silos Falami Fest in Katowice and Zabrze (2010 and 2012) and the design fair for children, Mały Silos in Katowice (2013). In addition, he was the founder of the record company Falami and the soap factory Sadza Soap, producing soap with the addition of activated carbon.
In 2013, he received the Artistic Award of the City of Sosnowiec for the Dissemination of Culture. Bibliography
