Jakub Sobieski (historian)

He was the son of historian Waclaw Sobiecki and Stanislawa Zieleński (Szyszkowska). His godfather was the historian Oskar Halecki. Jakub Sobieski graduated from Cracow Junior High School. John III Sobieski. He then studied history at the Jagiellonian University. The war caused the magisterium of history to gain only after the war at the Polish University in Exile in London. During the occupation period he was active in ZWZ-AK. He was the commander of the 33rd National Military Organization (NOW) in the Cracow district. He participated in the Warsaw Uprising - in the grouping "Gustaw". In 1945 he did not return to Poland, went to emigrate to Belgium. There he was a co-founder of the "Worker Catholic Youth" organization and co-editor and editor of the biweekly "Polak in Abroad". He was a school inspector in Brussels. In 1951 he became president of the "Catholic Action". Since 1954 he was in Rome, where he lectured on the history of future collaborators of the "Sacrum Poloniae Millennium".
