Alfonz Bednár

Alfonz Bednár (born October 13, 1914 in Rožňová Neporadza (now Neporadza), died November 9, 1989 in Bratislava) - Slovak prose writer, translator and screenwriter.

In his early works (among others in the novel Sklený vrch from 1954 about the Slovak uprising from 1944 and in the collection Nocel and minutes from 1956 (published in 1967)) he successfully attempted to de-catalyze the subject of World War II). In later works (dylogy Hromový zub from 1964 and Deravý dukat from 1969) he created a realistic epic fresco from the life of Slovak peasantry at the beginning of the 20th century. In addition, he wrote unmasking novels kept in the style of grotesque poetics (including Balkon was for high in 1968, published in 1983) touching on moral issues and problems of human dehumanization in modern civilization.
