About Christianity
On Christian doctrine (Latin doctrina christiana) - the theological and philosophical work of Augustine of Hippo, being an introduction to the reading of Scripture and Christianity itself. It is one of the works that fundamentally influenced the formation of Western culture and mind. Augustine discusses in his work the use of semantic analysis for the interpretation of the Bible. He is particularly referring to the logic of the Stoics and Aristotle. One of the important themes of the work is the understanding of the sacrament as a sign.
The main part of the work, the first two books and part three, was created in the years 395-396, so just after Augustine became the bishop of Hippo. The remainder of the third and fourth books were added several years before his death in the years 426-427. The author probably wrote them with notes and dirty notes from the early years.
