Zofia Cieszyn (about 1520-1541)

Zofia (born 1520, died 1541) - princess of Cieszyn, daughter of Prince Wenceslas II and his wife Anna Hohenzollernówny. Curriculum vitae The figure of the Cieszyn princess Zofia is known from the tombstone dedicated to her, located in the church of Sts. Bartholomew in Pardubice. According to the inscription on the blackboard, the princess Cieszyn died in 1541. It does not provide information about the origin of the duchess, but according to all her father was the Prince of Těšín II. Most likely, this refers to the letter of the Czech king Ferdinand I of January 31, 1540, in which, on behalf of the unnamed Count of Pezinok, he asks the guardian of the children of Wenceslas II John of Pernstein for intercession on the marrying princess Zofia in Pardubice. However, the marriage did not take place because Zofia died the following year. Bibliography
