Edvard Westermarck
Edvard Alexander Westermarck (born 20 November 1862 in Helsinki, 3 September 1939 in Lapinlahti) is a Finnish sociologist and ethnologist of Swedish origin. Curriculum vitae 1890-1906 lectured on sociology at the University of Helsinki, 1906-1918 was professor of moral philosophy at the University of London, 1907-1930 professor of sociology at the University of London. He led studies on the development of marriage and family and research in the field of morphology, as well as field research in Morocco. He was a proponent of the concept of ethical relativity.
