sandblasters

Sanders - a realistic oil painting by the Polish painter Aleksander Gierymski. Founded in 1887, so at the end of the artist's stay in Warsaw, is currently located in the National Museum in Warsaw.

Picture description

The picture depicts sand-makers working on the banks of the Vistula River, diverting the sand from the boat to the high waterfront. Rhythmically placed on the left side of the frame with shovels are shown in various stages of motion. The work is characterized by a uniform color scheme in which shades of blue and brown are dominant. The composition is asymmetrical and open. In a further perspective, several bars and the Kierbedzia bridge are closed, allowing the scene to be located in Warsaw's Powisle. The reduced horizon makes it look as though the viewer was watching the scene from the water level. Conclusions

With works such as the Sanders, Gierymski was said to have characterized the attitude of a cool, meticulous nature observer, in his works, devoid of narrative description, trying to capture the fleeting mood seen in nature. Most of all, he was fascinated by the problem of light and the variability of color tones that affected him.
