Joseph M. Gillman
Joseph Moses Gillman (June 10, 1888, Sokolov, Ukraine - April 1968, Hartsdale, United States) - American Marxist economist of Jewish origin.
At the age of 18, Joseph M. Gillman moved from Ukraine to the United States. At that time, he spoke only in Yiddish, but before he began his philosophical studies at Western Reserve University in Cleveland he learned English at Hiram College near Cleveland. While studying at Western Reserve University, he met his future wife, Eta, born in Cleveland, whose parents were emigrants from Poland. The marriage (made in 1914) had two sons, including the later famous mathematician Leonard Gillman. In 1922, the entire family moved to Pittsburgh, where Joseph began to teach at his university and worked on his doctorate in economics.
