InterBase

InterBase SQL - a system of relational databases, working in client-server technology, in which the full syntax of the SQL language has been implemented. It is an easy to use and administrate database system, available for Microsoft Windows, Solaris and Linux environments.

InterBase was developed by Borland and was sold as an element of environments for creating database applications. Embarcadero Technologies has been the owner of the product since 2008.

Current version summary

Since 2010, version 10 of the InterBase XE system has been sold. The system is sold in several versions. Interbase is installed on the server and requires at least 40MB of disk space (not including the capacity of the resulting database). Only a 400 KB DLL is installed on the client computer, which provides programs access to the database server via a computer network. There is also a desktop version installed on the client computer and allows local work on one program. Free version

In 2000, Borland released the source code for the InterBase 6.0 server and later created an independent database project called Firebird.
