Since March 1990 a deputy to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (in January 1993 resigned his mandate). In the years 1998-2002 and 2002-2006 again deputy to the Verkhovna Rada, from the list of Communist Party of Ukraine, adviser to the Central Committee KPU. In the years 1998-2000 Chairman of the Commission for Economic Policy, Economic Management, Real Estate and Investment, then a member of this commission. Since May 2002 he has been a member of the Communist Faction in the Parliament.
