Genuine geniuses
Genii veridici - Latin political dialogue by Stanislaw Heraklius Lubomirski about an unknown date of insurrection.
The work has not been published and is a monument of Polish literature (manuscript) remaining in the collection of the Jagiellonian Library under the 5190 code. The manuscript is 43 pages. Lubomirski attacked in this dialogue the excessive prerogatives of the Polish noble state in the second half of the 17th century, the overwhelming power of the Sejmik and the golden liberty of the nobility. The writer carefully considered the relationship between the king, the senate and the nobility. The overriding privilege of the noble state - the chief culprit of the sequestration of Polish reality - was pointed out as a source of evil. Against this background, the activities of seven varieties of pests originated from the noble state, which, under the guise of civic virtue, feed on the body of the Commonwealth by riding on seals and sejms. The second part of the dialogue presents the perfect state of the country from its founding. The author considered the Senate to be a stronghold of legitimate state life, but did not give a justification for this thesis.
