Cystostomia
Cystostomy - a type of urostomy. It is a fistula through the abdominal wall to the bladder over the pubic symphysis. The tubing is surgically operated and is fastened to poor sewing so that it can be removed in a non-surgical, light jerk. Application
Cystostomy can be used to drain urine from the bladder when the lower urinary tract is blocked when the catheter is not inserted and to reverse the flow of urine to allow treatment and healing of the wounds in the lower bladder and urethra.
It is often used as a place to introduce rinse saline to rinse internal postoperative wounds after bladder surgery (eg, removal of malignant lesions), removal of prostate gland (prostatectomy or adenomectomy). Bibliography
